Top legislator Wu Bangguo met here Tuesday with Gavaagiin Batkhuu, deputy chairman of State Great Hural of Mongolia, Mongolia's parliament.
Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, said the NPC and State Great Hural of Mongolia should enhance exchanges on governance, democracy and legal construction so as to inject vigor into bilateral relationship.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mongolia. The two countries forged good-neighborly partnership of mutual trust in 2003, signaling a new phase of bilateral ties.
"China-Mongolia relations are now standing at a new starting point," said Wu, adding that China is willing to work closely with Mongolia to take the opportunity and lift bilateral ties to a new level so as to benefit the two peoples.
Batkhuu said China's development provides an opportunity for further cooperation between the two countries, and Mongolia is expecting more investment from China.
State Great Hural of Mongolia will strengthen friendly exchanges with the NPC to contribute to pragmatic cooperation in various fields between the two countries and generation-to-generation friendship, Batkhuu said.
