China's top legislator Wu Bangguo on Wednesday pledged to enhance the strategic cooperation between China and the Philippines.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), made the remarks when meeting with Philippine House of Representatives Speaker Prospero Nograles.
"We are willing to work with the Philippines to increase exchanges between our political parties, parliaments, governments and peoples, and expand reciprocal cooperation in economy and trade," Wu said.
Expressing satisfaction with the Sino-Philippine relations, Wu said the two countries enjoyed increasing mutual political trust, and had smooth cooperation in trade, investment, finance, agriculture, fishery, mining and infrastructure construction.

China and the Philippines also witnessed active exchanges in science, technology, education, culture and tourism. "We value the ties with the Philippines," he said.
Nograles said China's stable and rapid development benefited not only the Chinese people, but also Asia and the world at large.
The cooperation between the Philippines and China enjoyed sound foundation and bright prospects, he said, noting that his country was ready to work with China to maintain high level visits, strengthen mutual understanding and expand comprehensive cooperation, in an effort to achieve win-win development.

Nograles, who is also vice chairman of the ruling Lakas-Kampi-CMD party, was here at the invitation of the Communist Party of China from Oct. 20 to 23.
