China's top legislator meets Spanish regional leader

   SEVILLE, Spain, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Visiting China's top legislator Wu Bangguo met here Sunday with Andalusian regional president Antonio Grinan of Spain, pledging to deepen cooperation on renewable energy, agriculture and tourism.

  Andalusia has world-renowned agricultural products of wine and olive oil and and takes a lead in renewable energy technologies like solar power, said Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), calling for cooperation between localities of the two countries.

  Wu said China welcomes Andalusia to actively explore the Chinese market and encourages the Chinese enterprises to invest in the region so as to serve the China-Spain comprehensive and strategic partnership.

  On Saturday, Wu visited a solar power plant in southern Andalusia, hoping the two sides could enhance cooperation in this regard.

  China is now striving to adjust its energy structure with focus on developing renewable energy, said Wu, adding that as northwest China has abundant light and heat resources, the two sides should consider setting up pilot projects through combining Spain's advanced technology with China's capital and market to achieve win-win outcomes.

  Wu is on a six-day official goodwill visit to Spain, the last stop of his four-nation European tour, which also involves the Netherlands, Croatia and Luxembourg.
