BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislature will deliberate a draft decision to amend seven laws and review a report on the qualifications of certain national delegates, during a bimonthly session next week.

The National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee will convene a session on Oct. 23 to 26 in Beijing, according to a decision made at Monday's meeting of the chairman and vice chairpersons of the NPC Standing Committee. The meeting was presided over by NPC Standing Committee Chairman Wu Bangguo.

One of the seven laws that will be discussed is the Prison Law. A draft amendment to the Postal Law will be debated for the first time at the upcoming session, according to a statement issued by the NPC Standing Committee after the meeting.

Lawmakers will also review a report on the qualifications of certain NPC delegates and discuss cases of appointments and dismissals, according to the statement. The statement provided no details of the draft amendment and the above-mentioned bills.

Lawmakers will continue to debate on the draft mental health law following two readings in October last year and August this year. They will also discuss a draft revision to the Law on Securities Investment Funds, which was first tabled for deliberations in June.

The agenda will include deliberations on whether to consent to the China-Tajikistan-Afghanistantreaty on definition of the tri-junction point of the national boundaries. It will also discuss the China-Thailand treaty on the transfer of sentenced individuals.

Three government reports, on strengthening cultural system reform for prosperity of socialist culture, on the reform and development of state-owned enterprises, and on social assistance, will also be discussed.
