MOSCOW, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese legislator Chen Zhili met Russian parliamentarians here on Thursday, with both sides pledging to strengthen bilateral ties.

Chen, vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC) and chairwoman of the All-China Women's Federation, said the China-Russia comprehensive relations of strategic cooperation and partnership had maintained positive and stable momentum, which was facilitated by leaders of the two countries.

The visiting Chinese legislator held separate talks with Valentina Matviyenko, chairwoman of the Federation Council, or upper house of the parliament, and Ludmila Shvetsova, vice chairwoman of the State Duma, or lower house of the parliament.

Calling Russia "a major and the most significant strategic partner of cooperation," Chen said China was willing to fulfill consensus reached by leaders of the two countries following their mutual visits and implement the blueprint of China-Russia relations for the next decade.

Meanwhile, the two giant neighbors should "further deepen their political and strategic mutual trust, enhance pragmatic cooperation in all fields, strengthen their cooperation in the international arena" so as to push forward the bilateral ties to new heights, Chen said.

In addition, the deepening bilateral women's exchanges served to strengthen the "traditional friendship" of the two countries, Chen said, adding China would like to further promote China-Russia women's exchanges.

She also briefed Russian colleagues on the just-concluded 18th national congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Matviyenko and Shvetsova highly praised China-Russia ties and the contributions made by women of the two countries in promoting the strategic partnership. They also congratulated China for the successful meeting of the CPC national congress and the new Chinese leadership.

China-Russia relations would make greater achievements in future, they said, adding Russia would continue to facilitate bilateral women's exchanges and cooperation.

Chen visited Russia at the invitation of Svetlana Orlova, deputy chairperson of the Federal Council. She also met Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin during her visit.
