Top Chinese legislator participates in APPF annual meeting

    VLADIVOSTOK, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislator Wu Bangguo attended the opening ceremony of the 21st annual meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum Monday in the Russian city of Vladivostok.

  Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, will deliver a keynote speech at the meeting.

  He will elaborate on China's principles and propositions on major issues regarding peace and development in the Asia-Pacific region as well as China' s domestic and foreign policies.

  This year, legislators from APPF member states will discuss regional security, economy and trade, and regional integration, which will help promote regional peace and stability and facilitate win-win cooperation in the Asia-Pacific area.

  Established in Tokyo in 1993, the forum aims to promote greater cooperation among legislative bodies in the Asia-Pacific region.

  Delegations from 28 APPF members and its two observers, Afghanistan and Kazakhstan, as well as some international organizations are participating in the five-day meeting in Vladivostok.
