NADI, Fiji, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislator Wu Bangguo met with Fiji President Epeli Nailatikau here Friday and both leaders voiced their will to further bilateral ties.
During the meeting, Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, said that the Chinese side advocates democratization of the international relations, and respects the diversity of the world.
China believes that all countries, big or small, rich or poor, strong or weak, are equal members of the international community, and that international affairs should be handled by all countries through consultation on an equal footing, Wu said.
China has always opposed those big, rich or strong countries bullying the small, poor or weak ones, he added.
Wu also briefed the Fiji president on the current cross- straits situation and thanked Fiji for consistently adhering to the one-China policy.
For his part, Nailatikau said Fiji's stance on the Taiwan issue is unswerving and his country will continue to adhere to the one-China policy and hopes China will achieve peaceful reunification.
Wu arrived here on Thursday for a four-day visit. Fiji is the last stop of Wu's four-nation tour, which has taken him to Iran, Myanmar and Sri Lanka.
