Chinese top legislature officials visit Oman

  MUSCAT, Feb. 29 (Xinhua) -- A delegation of China's top legislature, the National People's Congress (NPC), is to conclude a friendly visit to Oman on Wednesday.

  During their three-day visit, the delegation headed by Han Qide, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, held talks with Omani Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs Fahd bin Mahmoud al-Said, Chairman of Omani Majlis' Consultative Council Khalid bin Hilal al- Ma'awali, and Chairman of the State Council Yahya Bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, to exchange views on bilateral relations and international and regional affairs of common concerns.

  China and Oman enjoy a traditional friendship, Han said, adding that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 34 years ago, the two countries have been deepening their political trust, making significant achievements in pragmatic cooperation, activating cultural exchanges and maintaining communication and collaboration in international and regional affairs.

  China attaches a great importance to the relationship with Oman, and the NPC is willing to further its communication and cooperation with the Omani parliament, in an effort to promote the friendly cooperative relationship between the two countries into a new level, Han said.

  The Omani officials hailed the development of bilateral relations in recent years, saying that the two countries' friendship has a long history as well as a broad prospect of further development.

  They also expressed Oman's adherence to the one-China policy and willingness to deepen cooperation with China in various areas.
