A senior Chinese legislator on Friday called on the youth of China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to enhance exchanges and learn from each other to make greater contributions to boosting bilateral traditional friendship.
Wang Zhaoguo, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, made the remarks when he met with a DPRK youth delegation, led by First Secretary Ri Yong Chol of DPRK's Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League.
Wang hailed the new progress of China-DPRK relations over the years, adding the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties and the Year of China-DPRK Friendship last year, had revealed the vitality of bilateral friendship.
"Youth shoulder the important mission of carrying on traditional friendship between the two countries," he said, voicing his hope that youth leagues of both sides would enhance exchanges and cooperation to further strengthen bilateral friendship.
Ri Yong Chol called on closer youth exchanges between the two countries to carry on the DPRK-China friendship from generation to generation.
The six-member delegation started its China tour on Tuesday as part of the regular exchange between the two countries' youth organizations.
Besides Beijing, they visited Changchun and Jijin cities of northeastern China's Jilin Province, where DPRK's top leader Kim Jong Il visited during his recent China trip in August.
