Li Jianguo, vice chairman and secretary-general of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, met here Wednesday with a delegation from Japan's House of Councilors.
The delegation is headed by Oishi Masamitsu, chairman of the Budget Committee of Japanese upper house. He is also chairman of the Japanese side of the bilateral regular legislative exchange mechanism under which Beijing and Tokyo host annual meetings in turn.
The two sides have had three meetings under the exchange mechanism till now, with the latest one held in Japan in March 2009.
