Chen Zhili, vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislative body, met here Wednesday with visiting Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Chen expressed her welcome on Sirindhorn's 27th visit to China, highly praising the Princess's contribution to China-Thai friendship.

"China and Thailand are always good brothers, neighbors and partners," Chen said, adding that the two countries have witnessed deepening political trust, frequent high-level exchanges and fruitful cooperation since they established diplomatic ties in 1975.

For her part, Sirindhorn thanked the Chinese government for inviting her to visit China, saying that every China visit is impressive. Her visit to China's earthquake-hit areas and coastal city of Xiamen further deepened her understanding of China.

During her China trip from April 3-10, Sirindhorn visited southwest China's Sichuan Province, and donated 10 million yuan for the rebuilding of schools damaged by last year's devastating earthquake.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei, Thai Ambassador to China Rathakit Manathat, among others, were also present at the meeting.
