The Laos-China relations are in a new era of comprehensive, in-depth and prosperous development, said the Lao party chief here on Thursday.
Choummaly Saygnasone, general secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Lao president, made the remarks when meeting with Chen Zhili, vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC).
Choummaly spoke highly of China's achievements in the 30 years of reform and open-up cause and expressed the Lao party, the government and the people's thanks for the Chinese side on the support for Lao national construction cause.
Choummaly reaffirmed that the Lao party, the government and the people will adhere to the one-China policy and oppose Taiwan independence and Tibet independence secessionist activities in any form.
For her part, Chen said that Laos is a close friend and comrade of China. China would like to work together with Laos to advance the bilateral relationship featuring long-term stability, good neighborliness, mutual trust and comprehensive cooperation.
Chen also said the Chinese NPC would like to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with the Lao National Assembly, so as to contribute to the bilateral relations.
Chen is on a three-day visit to Laos starting Wednesday.
