Chilean President Michelle Bachelet Tuesday met with Uyunqimg, vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), to discuss parliamentary exchanges and other aspects of bilateral ties.
In recent years, China and Chile have seen ever deepening political mutual trust, rapidly growing economic and trade ties, fast expanding cooperation in all fields and close coordination in international affairs, Uyunqimg said during the meeting with Bachelet.
Exchanges between China's NPC and the Chilean parliament have helped promote bilateral relations, Uyunqimg said, adding that China is ready to work with Chile to boost bilateral relations to a new level.
Bachelet said Chile has adhered to the one-China policy all along and will always remain a friend of China.
Parliamentary exchanges are an important part of bilateral relations and the political dialogue mechanism between the Chilean parliament and China's NPC has helped promote relations between the two countries, the Chilean president said.
Bachelet expressed again condolences over the loss of life and property in the massive earthquake that hit southwestern China in May. She also wished the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games a success.
Also on Tuesday, Uyunqimg met with Adolfo Zaldivar, president of the Chilean Senate, and Juan Bustos, president of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies.
Uyunqimg arrived in Chile Saturday for a five-day visit to the South American country.
