The Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) is willing to deepen exchanges with the Vietnamese parliament of each other's experience in administrative theories and the building of democracy and rule of law, China's top legislator said on Friday.
"The NPC and the Vietnamese parliament have been maintaining an all-level and deepened cooperation that pushes forward the relations between the two countries," said NPC Standing Committee Chairman Wu Bangguo.
During a meeting with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, Nong Duc Manh, Wu said the China-Vietnam friendship fostered by the leadership of the old generation, laid a solid political foundation for the development of bilateral ties.
He said bilateral cooperation in various fields had benefited the two peoples, and China was ready to promote strategic and cooperative partnership with Vietnam.
Manh said he was visiting China to enhance mutual understanding and support, and to discuss with Chinese leaders on ways to strengthen cooperation in the future.
He also expressed sympathy and condolence to China on the casualties and property loss suffered in the May 12 earthquake in the southwest Sichuan Province. He said he believed that brotherly Chinese people would overcome the natural disaster and rebuild their homes in the near future.
Manh arrived here on Friday afternoon for a four-day visit. On his arrival in Beijing, he handed over a list of relief materials totaling 15 tons. They will be delivered to the quake-hit areas in two batches.
