BEIJING, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Some 220 deputies to the National People's Congress, China's top law-making body, completed a four-day workshop on budget review and supervision in Beijing on Friday.
The workshop offered courses including the NPC's duties and work in budget review and supervision, reforming the finance system as well as macroeconomic situation and policy.
Yang Zhenwu, secretary-general of the NPC Standing Committee, called on the deputies to improve capabilities on budget review and supervision, maintain close ties with the people, conduct in-depth research and enhance the relevance and effectiveness of budget review and supervision.
The NPC will hold more workshops this year on the Chinese socialist system of laws, poverty alleviation and rural vitalization as well as works to ensure and improve people's wellbeing.
