The 18th National Party Congress has pointed out that scientific innovation is the key strategy for improving a country's comprehensive strength. This afternoon, the NPC news center has held a presser on theme of "innovation promoting development".

Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang fielded media questions covering topics of scientific resources allocation, international cooperation, cultivating talents as well as air pollution. He said China's investment on scientific research and development has reached 164 trillion US dollars, 1.97 percent of GDP in 2012.

Scientific innovations in China such as space and lunar exploration have attracted world attention. China highly values international cooperation in this field. So far China has established cooperation with more than 120 countries in the world. As for the mostly concerned air pollution, Wan Gang said China has taken up concrete measures and is confident in solving this issue.
