Top legislator Wu Bangguo on Tuesday met and extended regards to journalists from major media organizations who are covering the annual sessions of China's top legislature and political advisory body.

While visiting the offices of leading media organizations at the Great Hall of the People, Wu extended gratitude and appreciation to the journalists for their hard work and affirmed their reports about the two sessions.

The journalists' stories "positively publicized" the workings of the people's congress system and the progress China has made in building socialist democracy, said Wu, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee.

At the office of Xinhua News Agency, Wu applauded Xinhua's "accurate, comprehensive, rapid and vivid reports."

The Fifth Session of the 11th NPC will conclude on Wednesday morning, while the Fifth Session of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) ended Tuesday morning.
