BEIJING, May 21 (Xinhua) -- China was ready to work with Vietnam for a harmonious world of lasting peace, common prosperity and gender equality, said a senior Chinese legislator on Friday.

Chen Zhili, Vice Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, made the remarks while meeting with Vietnamese Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan.

Doan is attending the Global Summit of Women 2010, which opened Thursday in Beijing.

Chen, also chairwoman of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), welcomed Doan's participation.

Chen said that under the care and instruction of both leaders, exchanges and cooperation between women of the two countries had developed in a multi-level and wide-ranging pattern.

China would continue to adhere to the principle of long-term stability, facing the future, good-neighborliness and friendship, and all-round cooperation, and take the opportunity of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral ties to continuously promote the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with Vietnam, she said.

The three-day Beijing summit is being jointly hosted by the All China Women's Federation (ACWF) and the China NGO Network for International Exchanges (CNIE).
