
Chinese lawmakers will deliberate for the first time the draft laws on national defense mobilization and the people's armed police, at an upcoming bimonthly session scheduled from April 20 to 24.
Lawmakers will also deliberate for the first time the draft amendment to the rules of procedure of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), according to the Council of Chairmen of the 11th NPC Standing Committee, the top legislature, here on Monday.
The meeting, presided over by Chairman Wu Bangguo of the NPC Standing Committee and attended by vice chairpersons and secretary-general of the NPC Standing Committee, decided to hold a five-day session beginning next Monday.
The session will continue to deliberate the draft amendments to the postal law and the law on arbitration of disputes concerning contracted farmland.
According to the agenda suggested by the Council of Chairmen, this NPC Standing Committee session will also deliberate treaties with the Republic of Korea and Australia on the transfer of sentenced people, and a treaty with Venezuela on judicial assistance in criminal affairs.
Also at the session, lawmakers will consider draft reports, submitted by the State Council, or Cabinet, on the establishment of rural social security system, the development of professional education and the progress in air pollution control.
Lawmakers will examine the qualifications of some NPC deputies and approve officials' personnel changes at the upcoming session.
