Chinese president appoints ambassadors to three countries

BEIJING, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping has appointed ambassadors to Somalia, Iceland and Argentina, according to a statement from the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) on Thursday.

Wei Hongtian was appointed ambassador to Somalia.

Zhang Weidong was appointed ambassador to Iceland.

Yang Wanming was appointed ambassador to Argentina, replacing Yin Hengmin.

Xi made the appointments in line with decisions made by the Standing Committee of the NPC, the nation's top legislature.
