China's top legislature approves appointment of new civil affairs minister

  BEIJING, June 25 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislature Friday approved the State Council's decision to appoint Li Liguo as the new civil affairs minister, replacing Li Xueju.

  Li Liguo was born in 1953 in north China's Hebei Province. He had previously served as vice minister of civil affairs since 2003.

  At the bimonthly session, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), or the top legislature, appointed Hu Zejun as deputy procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate to replace Zhang Geng.

  The top legislature also appointed Wang Jinshan as vice chairman of the NPC's Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee.
