The Chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, Wu Bangguo, has met with the Speaker of the Lower House of Myanmar’s parliament, Nanda Kyaw Swa in Myanmar’s capital Nay Pyi Taw.

Wu Bangguo said the friendship between China and Myanmar and the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence jointly advocated by the two countries are a reliable guarantee to deepen the development of bilateral relations.

The top legislator said China attaches great importance to the good-neighborly relations with Myanmar, and the policy remains unchanged no matter how the international and regional situations evolve.

He also noted that Presideng Hu Jintao and his Myanmar counterpart U Thein Sein last year lifted bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation, which opened a new chapter for developing bilateral relations.

Nanda Kyaw Swa said he agrees with Wu Bangguo on comments and suggestions on bilateral relations. He voiced his belief that Wu’s visit will inject new impetus to developing relations between the two countries.
