BEIJING, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese leaders visited an information technology (IT) exposition at the China National Convention Center on Thursday and Friday, stressing to attendees the need for IT to play a bigger role in the nation's industrialization drive.
Wu Bangguo, Jia Qinglin, Li Changchun and Li Keqiang -- all members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee -- visited sections of the exposition covering 3D helicopter design, explosion safety monitoring and other state-of-the-art digital industrial machinery, and talked with corporate representatives.
IT's application is a prominent trait of modern industrialization, and also an important impetus for economic and social restructuring, they said.
They underlined the necessity to accelerate the research, production and management of IT in industry and called for efforts to apply the technology more broadly.
