DUBROVNIK, Croatia, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Visiting China's top legislator Wu Bangguo has stressed closer cooperation on tourism between China and Croatia.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), made the remarks on Sunday while meeting with Andro Vlahusic, mayor of Dubrovnik, a Croatian tourist city on the Adriatic Sea coast.

"I hope Dubrovnik could establish sister city relationship with a Chinese province or city, and attract more Chinese tourists to have a sightseeing tour over here," said Wu.

Croatia became China's tourist destination in 2003.

Wu said the tourism promotion will help spur local cooperation between the two countries on areas like trade, education and culture.

Wu arrived in Zagreb on Thursday for an official goodwill visit to Croatia, the second leg of his four-nation European tour.
