KIEV, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese and Ukrainian legislators Wang Zhaoguo and Adam Martynyuk held talks here on Monday to boost bilateral parliamentary relations.
Wang, vice chairman of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee, brought forward a four-point proposal for that aim in his meeting with Martynyuk, vice speaker of the Ukrainian parliament.
First, he said, both sides should increase exchanges between the two countries' parliaments at various levels, continuously boost mutual understanding, and cement the political foundation for friendly cooperation.
Second, both sides should promote bilateral cooperation, and continuously strengthen and expand the material and social foundations for bilateral cooperation, he said.
Third, both sides should boost exchanges of their parliaments' experience in legislation to provide effective legal safeguard for deepening bilateral economic and trade cooperation, Wang said.
Fourth, both sides should strengthen cooperation in international parliamentary organizations, and understand and support each other on issues of mutual concern, and protect their own national interests, he added.
Martynyuk said the Ukrainian parliament is also willing to strengthen friendly ties with the Chinese side.
Wang is on a three-country Europe trip, which will also take him Ireland and Poland.
