LUANDA, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo arrived in Luanda on Sunday to kick off his official goodwill visit to Angola.
Wu, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, China's top legislative body, made the visit as a guest of Speaker of the Angolan National Assembly Antonio Paulo Kassoma.
In a written speech delivered upon his arrival, Wu spoke highly of the growth of China-Angola relationship in the recent years, noting that the strategic partnership established last year between the two countries powered the bilateral cooperation to a higher level.
He noted that mutual political trust has been enhanced and fruitful achievements have been scored in a wide range of fields for cooperation which has brought substantial benefits to the two peoples.
During his stay in Angola, Wu is scheduled to meet with Angola's President Jose Eduardo dos Santos and hold talks with Kassoma. He is also set to pay a visit to a joint telecommunication project.
Angola is the second leg of Wu's four-nation trip to Asia and Africa. He is also scheduled to visit South Africa and Maldives.
China and Angola established diplomatic relations in 1983.
