FUZHOU, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- The legislature of east China's Fujian Province will continue legislation to push for Fujian-Taiwan exchanges and cooperation this year, to follow up the success of last year, Liu Dezhang, deputy director of the standing committee of the provincial People's Congress, said Friday.
Liu said legislation regarding Taiwan has long been a unique feature of Fujian Province
The Fujian Provincial People's Congress plans to discuss this year the amendment to the measures for implementation of the Law on Protection of Investment by Compatriots from Taiwan, amendments to regulations on port calls by Taiwan vessels, and draft regulations on promotion of a modern logistics industry, Liu said.
In 2009, the provincial legislature approved regulations on promotion of agricultural cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan, which grants Taiwan compatriots who invest in agriculture-related industries equal treatment as enjoyed by local residents of Fujian.
The provincial legislature also put forward suggestions to enhance cooperation on environmental protection, to improve port construction and to better resolve complaints from Taiwan business people, which had also greatly promoted cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan in 2009, said Liu.
Fujian became the first Chinese mainland province to pass legislation to protect the legitimate rights of Taiwan compatriots in 1990.
