Senior Chinese legislator meets Ugandan law-makers

  BEIJING, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese legislator Yan Junqi met on Wednesday with a delegation from the National Resistance Movement Organization (NRMO) of Uganda, calling on joint efforts to boost parliamentary exchanges.

  Yan, vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, expressed appreciation for NRMO's support for China on Taiwan, Tibet and human rights issues.

  Hailing the progress of China-Uganda relations, she said China would like to make joint efforts with Uganda to cement parliamentary exchanges and bilateral cooperation in various areas.

  Daudi Migereko, head of the delegation and NRMO chief whip, said the relations between Uganda and China had witnessed sound development since his party came into power in 1986.

  The Ugandan government was satisfied with the fruitful bilateral cooperation in various fields and hoped to further strengthen exchanges with China, he added.
