BEIJING, Jan. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- The Standing Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress (TARPC) has always given top priority to promoting ecological construction and environment protection in Tibet, according to a senior TARPC official.
Pang Boyong, an inspector of the TARPC General Office, hailed Tibet's efforts to tackle the impact of the global climatic change at a press briefing held by the TARPC and its Standing Committee Wednesday.
Pang noted that following a five-year campaign to raise public awareness of environmental protection, the committee took again the initiative in white-pollution control, garbage disposal and health infrastructure improvements along major traffic routes, as well as in scenic spots and residential communities in 2009.
Meanwhile, the committee has quickened its pace in environmental legislation and drawn on good experience of Nepal in nature reserve management.
