Two annual sessions of Tibet's legislature, advisory body to open

  BEIJING, Jan. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- The third sessions of the 9th Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress and the 9th Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) will open in Lhasa on Sunday and Friday, respectively.

  The announcement was made at the first press conference held in Lhasa Wednesday on the two annual sessions.

  Pang Boyong and Sonam Phelgyal, leading officials of the Regional Government, briefed the reporters on the schedules and missions of the two sessions.

  The six-day Regional People's Congress will proceed in three phases, namely, listening to and deliberating the report on the work of the Regional Government, listening to and deliberating the reports on the work of the Regional Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the Regional Higher People's Court and the Regional People's Procuratorate, and electing and voting on each decision and resolution.

  The Third Session of the 9th Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference will proceed until January 13.

  The major missions of the session will include listening to and deliberating the report on the work of the Standing Committee of the 9th Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee of the CPPCC and attending the Third Session of the 9th Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress.
