China and Kazakhstan pledged to boost bilateral cooperation and enhance strategic partnership on Wednesday.

Top legislator Wu Bangguo met with Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Karim Masimov at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, capital of China, April 9, 2008.

Wu appreciated Kazakh support for Beijing Olympic Games saying that Olympic flame was warmly welcomed by the Kazakh government and people when it arrived in Almaty of Kazakhstan.

China was ready to make joint efforts with Kazakhstan to promote cooperation in trade, economy and energy and enhance exchanges between the two legislatures, Wu said.

Masimov said the Kazakh government attached great importance to bilateral relations and hoped to further promote mutually beneficial cooperation with China.

Masimov is on a four-day official visit to China as a guest of his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao. He will also attend the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) on April 12.
