China's top legislator underscores NPC's role in national development

The National People's Congress (NPC) is to center its work on ensuring sound progress in China's reform, development and stability, top legislator Wu Bangguo said here Monday.

"We should improve our working style" and efforts should be made to step up inspection on law enforcement and supervision on work, he said in a panel discussion with lawmakers from northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the NPC, also underscored importance on lawmakers' in-depth investigation to offer insights in a bid to boost the country's further development.

The 11th NPC started its second full session on Thursday, and it will last eight and half days.
