A senior Chinese official on Friday urged efforts to carry on matter-of-fact attitude in daily work and promote the fine work style and moral standards of members of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Wang Zhaoguo, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), made the call at a seminar marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of Li Jingquan, a veteran revolutionist and former vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee.

Li worked hard for the country's revolutionary and construction cause for many years and devoted his lifelong energy and intelligence to the cause of the Party and people, Wang said at the seminar attended by China's top legislator Wu Bangguo.

Wang urged efforts to learn from Li Jingquan's persistence in principled stand, and honesty and righteousness in performing duties.

Born in 1909, Li Jingquan was a native of Jiangxi Province and worked as vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee. He died of illness in 1989.
