In 2010, steady progress was made in the development of relations between the People's Republic of China and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, with vigorous exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

With the Shanghai World Expo as a good opportunity, high-level contacts maintained sound momentum. In early April, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn paid a working visit to China and chaired the opening ceremony of the Luxembourg Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo. Vice Premier Li Keqiang met with him and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks with him. In May, President Laurent Mosar of the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg led a parliamentary delegation to attend the opening ceremony of the Shanghai World Expo and met with Vice President Xi Jinping and NPC Vice Chairman Han Qide respectively. New progress was made in economic cooperation and trade. China became Luxembourg's second largest trading partner outside the EU and largest trading partner in Asia. In May, Minister of the Economy and Foreign Trade Jeannot Krecké attended the 9th meeting of the joint economic and trade committee between China and the Belgium-Luxembourg Economic Union (BLEU) in Brussels and had an extensive exchange of views on economy and trade with Vice Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng. In November, the government of Luxembourg and the China Federation of Industrial Economics (CFIE) co-hosted the 6th Global China Business Meeting. CFIE President Xu Kuangdi led a Chinese business delegation to attend the meeting.

Exchanges in culture, education and other areas were vigorous. Quite a few art groups of Luxembourg staged performances in China during the Shanghai World Expo. In September, Liu Dawei, Vice President of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and President of the China Artists Association led a delegation of Chinese artists to Luxembourg to hold a calligraphy and painting exhibition. He met with President Laurent Mosar of the Chamber of Deputies and Culture Minister Octavie Modert respectively.
