PARIS, July 5 (Xinhua) -- China's economic transformation in the post-crisis era will bring not only opportunities but also challenges to the China-France economic and trade cooperation, a Chinese diplomat said.

In a recent interview with Xinhua, Chinese Economic Counselor Ma She attributed China's economic transformation to its industrial structural reform and domestic demand expansion, saying they were chances for both China and France.

The rapid growth of China's import market will provide more access for French products, while China will offer more opportunities for cooperation in areas where France has advanced technology such as environmental protection, energy saving and the processing of agriculture products, Ma said.

He added the increasing purchasing power of Chinese citizens has offered French high-quality products a promising market.

The counselor said China always attaches great importance to the trade cooperation with France, as both economies complement each other.

The two countries have not only great potentials for cooperation in traditional areas such as energy, transport and aviation, but also bright prospects for cooperation in emerging industries, Ma said.

According to official data, China's trade volume with France hit 34.48 billion U.S. dollars in 2009, making it France's biggest trade partner in Asia.
