More than 150 Asian and European lawmakers will meet in Beijing next Wednesday to exchange ideas on social and economic cooperation.

The fifth Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting on June 18 will focus on cooperation between Asia and Europe, and promoting common development, a spokesman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress said here Thursday.

The three-day meeting will pass a declaration to be submitted to the 7th Asia-Europe Summit meeting scheduled for October in the Chinese capital.

Some 150 delegates from 31 member parliaments have signed up for the meeting, the spokesman said.

The Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting was established in 1996 with the aim of enhancing mutual understanding between Asia and Europe through increased dialogues among parliaments.

The meeting is held every two years in Asia and Europe in turn. The last was in Helsinki, Finland.
