GABORONE, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Botswana's Vice President Mompati Merafhe met here on Thursday with visiting Sang Guowei, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China.
Sang conveyed to Merafhe greetings from Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping. He said since China and Botswana established diplomatic relations 37 years ago, the two peoples have always trusted each other and treated each other on a equal footing. The exchange and cooperation between the two countries have also witnessed fruitful results in all sectors.
Sang expressed the NPC's willingness to make joint efforts with Botswana's National Assembly to further promote exchange and cooperation between the two legislatures, in order to make positive contribution to the friendly relations of cooperation between the two countries.
Merafhe, for his part, asked Sang to convey his sincere greetings to Xi. He said his country, which has attached great importance to the relations with China, is willing to strengthen friendly cooperation with China in fields like politics, economy and humanity.
Merafhe also said that his country will stick firmly to the one- China policy.
Sang set off from Beijing on March 29 to attend the 126th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Uganda. He was also scheduled to visit Mauritius during his trip.
