Top legislator: China ready to promote relations with Moldova

China will work with Moldova to promote bilateral friendship and cooperation to a higher level, said top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo here Wednesday.

At a meeting with Chairman of the Moldovan Parliament Marian Lupu, Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said the Chinese side has always attached great importance to bilateral relations.

China and Moldova established diplomatic ties in 1992.

Wu praised the deepening political mutual trust, expanding economic and trade cooperation and increasing cultural exchanges between the two sides in the past 16 years.

He said the NPC will continue to conduct exchanges with the Moldovan parliament and learn from each other in the building of legal systems.

Lupu, who is here on an official good-will visit as Wu's guest, said the Moldovan government, political parties and parliament will carry out further exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese side.

He reiterated that Moldova will, as always, stand by the Chinese people on issues concerning China's key interests.
