Chinese, French parliament leaders meet

Top legislator Wu Bangguo met with Bernard Accoyer, Speaker of France's National Assembly, here on Friday ahead of opening of Olympics.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress(NPC), said China values ties with France. He expressed the hope that the two sides would expand cooperation and push forward their strategic partnership.

Wu said that the NPC is willing to maintain high-level exchanges with the National Assembly.

Accoyer expressed his best wishes for the success of the Beijing Olympics, vowing that the Assembly attaches importance to developing ties with China. He reiterated that the French government and parliament firmly stick to the One China policy.

Accoyer was here to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympics.
