GABORONE, April 7 (Xinhua) -- China is willing to further cement the cooperation with Botswana between their legislatures, a senior Chinese legislator said on Friday.
When meeting with Speaker of Botswana's National Assembly Margaret Nasha, Sang Guowei, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China, applauded the development of bilateral relations, trade cooperation and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
The Chinese NPC is willing to maintain friendly relations with Botswana's National Assembly at different levels and in various forms, and enhance exchanges in the fields of governance, democracy and legal system, he said.
Sang also appreciated Botswana's firm adherence to the one-China policy.
Nasha expressed her willingness to promote the mutually beneficial cooperation between Botswana with China.
Calling China one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Botswana, she said bilateral relations achieved fruitful results in the development of economy and industry.
She also said the National Assembly, which has attached great importance to the development of friendly relations with the NPC, is willing to make joint efforts with China to continuously consolidate and deepen their traditional friendship and cooperation.
