A thematic press conference will be held by the General Office of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) in Shanghai Hall of the Great Hall of the People at 16:00 April 22, 2009 (Wednesday).
Journalists from China and abroad are all welcome.
The 8th session of the 11th NPC Standing Committee from April 20 to 24 will listen to and review three specific work reports by the State Council on building of social security system in rural areas, on development of vocational education and on progress of prevention and control of air pollution on April 22.
To make the work discussed in the three reports and the related supervision work of the NPC Standing Committee known to the society, the topic press conference will be held that afternoon.
Officials from NPC Education, Science, Culture and Public Health Committee, Environment Protection and Resources Conservation Committee, Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee and from Ministry of Education, Ministry of Civil Affairs, and Ministry of Environmental Protection will be invited to answer questions from the press over the three work reports.
There will be no interpretation service for the press conference. Please raise questions in Chinese.
Journalists interested in the press conference may obtain invitation letters and parking permits from the Information Bureau of the General Office of the NPC Standing Committee (23 Xijiaominxiang, Xicheng District) by showing one’s own valid identification for interviewing. The deadline is 17:00 April 21.
Please show invitation letters to enter the North Gate of the Great Hall of the People for the press conference, and with the parking permits, park cars in the parking lot at the North Gate.
