NAIROBI, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Kenya and China have agreed that the friendly cooperation relationship between the two countries has been deepening and developing based upon mutual respect and mutual assistance, stressing that they wish the bilateral relationship could enter a new phase of comprehensive and rapid growth.
Kenyan Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka on Friday held talk with the visiting Chinese delegation of National People's Congress (NPC) .
The Kenyan VP noted that as Kenya enters a new constitution dispensation there was need to facilitate a massive economic up turn in order to realize the aspirations of the country attaining a middle income status by the year 2030. "This means our friends from China should visit in large numbers as tourists in order to raise the numbers from the current 20,000 to a few millions," he added.
Musyoka noted that the new constitution devolves governance to counties and senate, adding that there will be a lot of financial and infrastructural implications in the implementation of the new constitution.
He called for more Chinese investments in infrastructural development as well as hotel and manufacturing sectors, noting that Kenya will unswervingly maintain the adherence to the one- China policy.
Chen Zhili, the vice chairwoman of the NPC standing committee and head of the delegation, applauded the growing and deepening mutual relations between Kenya and China over the years, adding that China was the biggest partner in Africa.
Chen said that China will continue to supporting infrastructural projects by giving soft loans and called on other donors to support Africa in technological transfer.
She noted that China had invested over 130 million dollars in various projects in Kenya.
Chen commended Kenya for signing the first agreement on development with the Chinese Development Bank in Africa.
The vice chairwoman also assured that the number of tourists visiting Kenya will increase tremendously.
