China and Grenada vowed to enhance parliamentary exchanges Wednesday during talks between Chairman Wu Bangguo and visiting Grenadian President of the Senate Kenny Lalsingh and Speaker of the House of Representatives Lawrence Joseph.
"The visit by Grenadian parliamentary leaders launched a new beginning for parliamentary exchanges and was significant," said Wu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.
He hoped the two parliaments would learn from each other on country governance and legal construction, and contribute to the development of Sino-Grenada relations.
Grenada is an island country in Caribbean sea. It restored diplomatic relations with China in 2005.
Wu said China had attached importance to the relations with Grenada, and the political trust and economic cooperation had expanded. The two countries had also maintained sound coordination on the multi-lateral area, he added.
Both are developing countries and facing the task of improving economy and people's lives, thus strengthening unity and cooperation is in conformity with the fundamental interest of the two countries and the peoples, Wu said.
Wu expressed appreciation for the adherence of Grenada to one-China stance and its support to China's reunification cause, saying this "cemented the political foundation" for Sino-Grenadian relations.
The Grenadian parliamentary leaders reaffirmed to adhere to one-China policy, and pledged to promote relationship between the two countries.
